“My parents moved to America when I was seven years old. They bought their first Dallas doughnut shop after a few years of odd jobs. Despite working in their store for over 10 years, I decided to pursue biomedical engineering. But then I took a detour…”
Doughnuts that look like our neighborhood
Like most doughnut shops, Detour makes specialty items that celebrate New Years, Valentine’s, Easter, Mother/Father’s Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other familiar holidays.
But we also make doughnuts to celebrate Lunar New Year, Holi, Eid, Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders heritage month, Black History Month, Pride Month, Hanukkah, and so many more that truly reflect what a real American neighborhood doughnut shop should look like.
Detour is also proud to balance celebrating the diversity in our community with ferocious activism, like when our customers bought close to $3000 worth of our Stop Asian Hate doughnuts and we matched those sales to donate nearly $6000 to the AAPI Community Gofundme.
